HI FAM
I am doing my weekly
FIRST because I always run out of time...
These past two weeks
have been filled with lots of Christmas cheer!
We have absolutely
loved sharing the Light the World challenge with everyone! I think my favorite
experience so far (other than the Christmas market) was when our Bishop invited
us, the Elders, Evelyn, and Evelyn's daughter Letizia over for dinner. His
family is beautiful and is so loving. It was during the Light Your Family week
which was PERFECT! So, we shared an example of Christ serving, the video, and
then we brainstormed ways that we could serve our families! We had each person
secretly write down 3 ways that they could serve and then we invited them to DO
THEM! I hope and pray that these two families are blessed.
Last Sunday the Elders
helped a Friend named Michael get baptized and it was so lovely. We were so
excited that Evelyn was going to have the chance to see a baptism! In our
previous lesson we invited her to pray that she would be able to receive an
answer at the baptism. The whole service was nice, but nothing too out of the
ordinary. Then, we started singing the closing song: Bei Meiner Taufe (The one
about rainbows after rain... I don’t remember exactly how it is called in
English). Evelyn started crying and she couldn't hold the songbook anymore, so
she just sat and listened. I knew she was feeling the spirit.
She invited us and the
Elders over for lunch and a lesson a couple of days ago and we started the
lesson by asking her if she received an answer at the Baptism. She said she was
not sure, and she asked us what the spirit feels like. I said, "Evelyn,
before I answer that question, can you explain the feelings that you had during
the closing song?" Just reflecting on that moment brought fresh tears to
her eyes as she searched for words to describe her experience. Words were
failing her, but then she got up, went to her desk, and brought back the
restoration pamphlet we had given her. She Pointed to the picture of Christ
lovingly holding a lamb and she said, "That... that is how I felt. I felt
like I was that Lamb". Honestly that picture could not more perfectly
describe the spirit.
Evelyn is so ready,
and I am praying to be able to stay another transfer to be able to help her
realize that, but if I can't, I am praying that the Lord is preparing a very
special missionary to take care of my dear friend.
I am so grateful for
this beautiful Christmas Season. I was reading when Christ came to the Americas
this week and my heart just swelled for love and gratitude for my savior and my
Brother.
I am so excited to see
your beautiful faces soon! Love you all!
FROHE WEIHNACHTEN!
RANDOMS:
- IT SNOWED! Can I get
a Hallelujah?
- We have been asking
people on the streets, "Do believe that we would still have Christmas
without Jesus Christ?" You would be amazed by the answers. I love it!
- The YSA did a
caroling activity this week and we got to help! We all split into groups and
went to different families. Our group of 5 people was completely tone deaf. It
was slightly sad, but just really funny! The people were so nice! I felt like
every time we showed up to give, they were so grateful that they gave back to
us 3-fold! I have never eaten so many Christmas cookies in my entire life.
- Evelyn lives on the
very Tip top floor of this ancient, leaning, German house in the middle of the
city square. After our appointment with the Elders, we got all the way down and
the elders realized they forgot a pair of snow boots up there! They were too
lazy to walk up the flights of stairs, so they called Evelyn and asked her to
throw them down! You should have seen her face! She was so funny! She did one
of those catholic crosses across her forehead and shoulders and let them fly!
We all had a good laugh together.
- I went on Exchanges with one of my favorite
sisters this week! She is literally the same person as Alicia Sorensen, so you
can imagine the fun we had! I went to Ulm and it was great. It was so BIG
compared to cute little Tubingen!
