Hello My Loved Ones
Sister Jensen and I have had a great couple of weeks!
It has been turning cold here and you really can see a direct
correlation between the weather and the work, but Tübingen is an AMAZING place
to be and I am so happy here.
We have been working a lot with Melanie (Investigator from
Mexico) and it has been so wonderful! There is so much support from the ward
and they are just taking her under their wing! We had TWO-member appointments
this week and both of them invited Melanie to come! One was with our Bishop and
his family (who all speak Spanish) and the other was with a newly married
couple that are both returned missionaries. We had a great lesson on prophets
and Melanie said that she understood a lot more about their role in the church.
She has decided for a baptismal date at the end of November! She would do it
sooner, but she is going back to Mexico for 2 weeks between now and then. I
have seen the huge difference it has made to have the ward's help. Melanie
actually went through a quiet phase a couple weeks ago where she stopped
responding to us, but one activity with the ward was all it took to get her
more comfortable and now she is progressing again! Keep her in your
prayers
We had another tender experience this week. I noticed that the
church has put out some great new literature and videos about Suicide and while
i was at the church, I downloaded some things to study. I forgot about them
until one day while we were eating lunch. It was very eye-opening and even
shared some videos with sister Jensen. The next morning, a girl named Zaki (a
super strong recent convert) called us really upset and said that she
needed to talk to us. This was the first time she had ever done anything like that,
so we were a little nervous to see what that appointment would hold. My
personal study was so stressful that morning. I felt like I needed to study
everything in order to be able to help her. I bookmarked scriptures and conference
talks for a bunch of different topics just PRAYING I would be able to help
her in her time of need. As we met, she said that a close friend of hers was considering
suicide and she had no idea how she could help them or what she could do. I was
able to share the video with her and we discussed some things about her
situation. It was a really neat experience and I was reminded about the saying
that goes like, "When the time of performance comes, it is too late to
practice". I know that as we do our best to study his word daily like we
have been commanded, he will make sure we are prepared.
I love you all!
Randoms:
There was a BEAUTIFUL sunset on the river that runs through Tubingen while we were finding, and I loved watching the different reactions people had. Some smiled and walked by, some quickly stopped just quick enough to post it on snapchat, and a select few stopped their quick pace, went to the side and just absorbed it. I want to be like the last person.
Us with Melanie!
On our hike, we forgot a knife,
so we had tonics pass along cards... Sister Jensen was not happy
