Hallo
Familie!
This week held a lot of opportunities for growth. We have done a
ton of member work AND a ton of finding! We got all the goods this week. Finding
was really interesting... People have been pretty nice when we have gone
finding before, but for some reason, this week was a little rough. I got a lot
of doors in my face and a lot of people that would look us up and down, laugh,
and wave goodbye. Luckily, we did not get very discouraged because that same
day, I actually gave away my first Book of Mormon! (I know that sounds funny because
I have been in the field for 7 weeks already, but people are pretty closed when
we go dooring!) But, we talked to him about the First Vision and explained The
Book of Mormon and then I opened up to Moroni 10:5 and we read it together. He
was so grateful for the book and he took our invitation to pray! It was so
cool!
Even though I had that cool experience, there have been some
moments where I know I have missed opportunities to do good and I have been too
afraid to talk to people that the Lord has put in my path. I was a little bit discouraged
became I just want to be a good missionary! I was reading a talk called
"Your Next Step" by Elder Randall K. Bennett and a part in it really
stuck out to me. He said, "Whenever we willingly act with faith in Jesus Christ and
take another step, especially an uncomfortable step requiring change or
repentance, we are blessed with strength. I testify that the Lord will guide us
to—and through —our next
steps. He will more than match our efforts with His power if we are willing to
keep trying, repenting, and moving forward with faith in our Heavenly Father
and His Son, Jesus Christ." I know that I am FAR from even being an
adequate missionary, but I am trying to be better. I am trying to take
those steps forward and I know that with time and work, I can become the missionary
that I have always wanted to be.
It is easy to shun away from those
uncomfortable steps and convince yourself that you are good enough where you
are at, but have the courage to move forward! I promise God will be there to
match all your efforts. He wants us to progress so he is waiting to help you!
Much Love from Germany!
Love, Sister Reay
Thoughts:
- We went to one of my favorite family's houses this week! They
are so cute. They have a little 6-year-old girl and a 4-year-old boy that are
absolutely bonkers! They made us the most delicious food ever called
"Pfannkuchen" and we seriously died!
- Sister McClellan and I were having Sprach Studium one night
and she was reading from our "German in Review" book while laying on
our couch behind me. I heard a soft thunk and some rustling papers. I looked at
her and she had fallen asleep and the book hit her in the face! The best part
was, she did not even wake up! She says the first thing she is going
to do when she gets home is sleep for 5 days straight!
- We went to our Oma's (Grandma's) house for
Sunday Dinner and she taught us how to make the most delish Sweet Potatoes on
the face of the Planet! She is so cute!
