The One with the Stones

Hallo Familie!
I hope you guys have had a great week! Our week has been great. Sister Lohner is the bomb. I thought it was interesting that She was training so early on her mission, but now I am not even surprised
I wanted to share a quick thought from my personal study with you! So, I was reading in Ether and I liked it because this week I struggled a little bit because I have been trying to be exactly obedient. As I have made that goal, I have realized just how inadequate I am in my fallen state as a human... As I read chapter three, I related myself, and all people who have a desire to come unto Christ, but that feel inadequate to the stones. (I know it is a little funny, but work with me here) I could hear the stones saying "O Lord, and do not be angry with thy servant because of his weakness before thee; for we know that thou art holy and dwellest in the heavens, and that we are unworthy before thee; because of the fall our natures have become evil continually; nevertheless, O Lord, thou hast given us a commandment that we must call upon thee, that from thee we may receive according to our desires." I know that I am unworthy because of my weaknesses.
Then, The Brother of Jared says, "And I know, O Lord, that thou hast all power, and can do whatsoever thou wilt for the benefit of man; therefore touch these stones, O Lord, with thy finger, and prepare them that they may shine forth in darkness; and they shall shine forth unto us in the vessels which we have prepared, that we may have light while we shall cross the sea." I was reminded of the Masters touch and that I CANNOT become the person that I want to be without his divine intervention. I need him to "prepare me" to shine forth in the darkness to help the people in Germany have the light of the gospel in their lives so they do not have to go through this journey of life in darkness.
We know what happens next in the story. The Lord touches each stone, one by one, giving each one his undivided, precious attention.
"And thus the Lord caused stones to shine in darkness, to give light unto men, women, and children, that they might not cross the great waters in darkness."
He can touch your life too!

Randoms:
- We planted flowers in pots today to bring some spring cheer in our little apartment! Now, let's just see if they will live
- Our Ehepaar had us over for dinner and they fed us Fondue and it was SO GOOD!
- One of the Elders in our district that I was friends with from the MTC had to go home for a surgery this week and It was so sad! Now, his companion is in a trio with our Elders so we have 7 missionaries in our tiny branch
- For one of our Sprach studies we sang along a CD with all of the primary songs in German. We were having such a great time singing Popcorn popping, The wise man song, and ALL the classics. Well it was all fun and games until Families can be together forever came on and I started CRYING… it was actually really funny. I just wasn't expecting it to evoke that much emotion in me that quickly!

The One with the Eggs

Oh my hecka! Has it really already been a week?!? Where does the time go!
This week was absolutely wonderful! We saw a lot of tender mercies from the Lord, we laughed crazy hard, and I can say that I am better than I was last week (I could just stop right there right?) but really it was a great week.

One of the highlights was our Zone conference yesterday. Just as with any meeting there were lots of different things said and lots of different things but the one thing that stood out to me was the theme of time. Our zone leaders did a funny activity where when they went on exchanges with the other elders in the zone they stole there “o'clocks” when they weren't looking (alarm clocks, wall clocks, watches... etc) so there were a lot of surprised looks when they started pulling the clock out of a bag at zone conference. Our zone leaders left us with a lot to think about as they talked about how sometimes things steal our time and we don't even know this or maybe we noticed but still let it be stolen. Sister Brown (Presidents wife) said later that day after a couple people gave their last testimonies before going home, "This is our time, elders and sisters, when it is your turn to stand up here and give your last past the money. Will you be able to look back and be proud of how you use your time or will there be a lot of regrets?" They then showed a clip from the movie "Dead Poet Society" about Carpe Diem. (If you get the chance to watch it, I think it is only about 4 or 5 min on youtube!) I had so much to think about how I am using my time and what I can do to make sure that I am utilizing every single second of this time that I have promised to dedicate to The Lord. Oftentimes I feel like my tags off when we reach our personal time for dinner or even on days, but I was able to see that every second is His.

This short paragraph may only be enough to help you get the motivation to try a recipe that you have been waiting to do or call up someone you have been meaning to talk to, which is great, but my greatest desire is that you feel the urgency to share the Gospel. Seize every opportunity that you can to share your testimony and be an example to others.

This life is so short and there is such an important work to be done! There truly never has been a greater work than that of sharing the joy that comes from the Restored Gospel of Jesus Christ, Our Savior and Redeemer.
I love you all so much. I Thank God for my family every day of my life and I am so grateful that we can be together for eternity

Bis Nächstes mal!

Random Things:
- We have an app called map.me and it is so amazing because it knows all the back ways to get to places! Anyways, we were going from one appointment to another and the map was telling us to go through the forest... so like obedient little missionaries we followed… it was quite the adventure going on this foot wide little trail through the beautiful woods! We had muddy shoes and looked pretty funny climbing over fallen trees and through some thick bushes in our skirts, but we were laughing the whole way!
- We eat a lot of eggs, so we usually get 2 cartons. The first time I made breakfast there was a double yoke! Sister Lohner had never seen one so I gave it to her. The next morning, she made breakfast and both of the eggs were double yoked! We thought it was just a fluke, but 17/20 eggs had double yokes... this is the same brand I have been buying for 2 months yokes!
- WE GOT SMART PHONES THIS WEEK! Say hello to selfies, auto correct, and internet! No but in all seriousness, it is ALREADY making a huge difference in our ability to do things! I am grateful for inspiration!
